The Bulgarian Journal of Health, Medicine and Nursing published a research paper for the lecturer, Dr. Sana Abdul-Razzaq, from the Faculty of Dentistry, entitled “Measuring vitamin D in patients with bone diseases and tooth decay”
Dr. Sana explained that The measurement of vitamin D fluctuating in Iraqi patients with bone diseases and tooth decay, by using high-performance liquid chromatography technique HPLC to determine the levels of vitamin D in the serum in healthy and patients and measuring the level of calcium element in the region of Najaf.Results showed that the level of vitamin D in the healthy is 19.21 ng/ ml. and calcium is 10.79 mg/ml for both male and female sexes. The results showed a clear and significant decrease vitamin D levels in surem of patients with tooth decay, as well as osteoporosis, postmenopausal women, scurvy when compared with corresponding categories of healthy in the research. Although vitamin D is called vitamin, it is not a basic food vitamin in the strict sense, since it can be manufactured in sufficient quantities of sunlight in all mammals.
